Alfred Begay

 

SAWMILL, Ariz. — Funeral services for Alfred Lee Begay, 63, will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 14, 2011, at the Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament Church. The Rev. Gilbert will officiate.

Burial will be in White Clay, Ariz. Visitation will be at 9 a.m. Sept. 14, 2011, in Fort Defiance, Ariz.
Begay died Sept. 9, 2011, in Fort Defiance. He was born Dec. 6, 1947, in Sawmill, Ariz., into the Red Running into the Water People Clan for the Near the Water People Clan.

Begay attended Window Rock School District in grade school. He was Sawmill Chapter vice president, was part of the Sawmill Chapter Grazing Official and Sawmill Chapter Planning and Activity Committee. Begay enjoyed herding sheep, working with chapter officials, planting corn and ranching.

Survivors include his mother Nita J. Begay; brother Albert Begay, of Sawmill; sisters Katherine Lee, of White Clay, and Marie Jesus, of Sawmill; eight grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father Joseph Begay and brother David Begay.

Pallbearers will be Michael Jesus, Marvin Lee, Avery Lee, Brandon Lee, Theron Nez and Jackson Nez.

The family will receive relatives and friends at the Sawmill Chapter House in Sawmill, Ariz.

Silver Creek Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

Betty McKinney

ALBUQUERQUE — Funeral service for Betty McKinney, 85, will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 14, 2011, at French, University Chapel.

Visitation will be at 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 13, 2011, at French’s, University location. Interment to follow at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul Blvd. NE, Albuquerque. McKinney died Friday, Sept. 9, 2011, in Austin, Texas


Survivors include her children Janice Cerno, Judith Willard, Lional McKinney and Mary Armstrong; sisters, Patsy Chesser and Glenda Franklin;12 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband, L. Ray McKinney.
